Waiting Search (End to Time)
2013"Waiting search was set in the Museum of Oriental Art in Turin, Italy. I wanted to project my view of this historical museum, of this space, and I also wanted to discuss the meaning of storing and displaying this sculptures and objects far away from the place they were created. However, more than Oriental Art, the inspiration of the piece was the museum, in particular, and what a museum represents, the idea of preserving the past.
The piece plays with the language of documentary. A series of spotlights reveal isolated sections of the museum’s darkened interior in the manner of a subterranean expedition. I was interested in how the intersection of the documented ‘real’ and fiction manifests itself in the post-production, in my recombination of the originally recorded work, which literally functions by folding time in on itself. Aiming to produce a semi-fictitious event that generates a documentary experience, the project utilizes the architecture and historical objects within as a means of revealing the mythologizing that is an inherent consequence of the canonization process of art and history. It addresses the fragmentation of history.
In a way, the research for the piece became the piece itself, as it was conceived like a live scouting. During my creative process, I was trying to create a complex relationship between light and time, dealing with an intersect space where they are in conflict. In my piece, one finds the idea of a projection of light that will reveal the space, and that would become an image itself, an image inside the moving image of the video. To manifest this premise, the video suggests and presents a visual reading of the space, always fragmented."

"Film and film history, from George Méliès to Dziga Vertov, were references that drove the creation of this piece. There is also a connection with artists working with light, especially the films of Gordon Matta-Clark, where he open spaces in the architecture, and light comes in the spaces in unusual ways. Also, Anthony McCall with his film installations of lines of light."
