Sussuarana Street - Um Vídeo de múltipla escolha
1989In Sussuarana, we attempted to learn the opinion of some professionals (architects, engineers, advertising agents, realtors) and, especially, the residents of Salvador about names of building in foreign languages that started to quickly propagate since the construction of the Trump Tower, in New York. The editing was conducted based on the speeches of interviewees, resulting in a continuous discourse. Sussuarana also bears a political aspect, the desire of urban Brazilian middle class to equate with the “developed world.”
It was one the first works, made with our hearts with very few resources, and with no major aesthetic concerns or research and development of a videographic language.

We didn’t have many references that contributed directly to create the work. It came up in an impetus, building up intuitively. Perhaps the only reference was the will to just “say something,” since I grew up watching Luis Buñuel, Glauber, Truffaut, Godard, all these people.
