Red Chewing Gum
2000"Red Chewing Gum was the first piece that I filmed myself. It is a video letter from a lover to a former lover. It takes place in Hamra, a comercial, modern district in Beirut. In a way is a portrait of that discrict and also of a relationship between this two lovers. I decided not to film the city directly, but through reflections in a bowl. It is a film about the end of relationships and about consumption and gender, besides beeing a film about the city. It is also about power in a relationship, because one of the people forces the other to chew a gum already chewd by another person, to satisfy desired or to enjoy that power. It was the first work in which I talk about relationship between two men."
