Mirror
2012"In this work my researches evolved not only from questionings about myself and my past, but also about the world and our relation with the environment. In my approach to creation, the poetic and aesthetic aspects are very present and I draw my inspiration from African tradition (the art of the divination by water).
The water — element of emotion, sensitiveness and quietness — is the big mirror of our World. In this video involves me loosening certain semantic plans to represent water as a mirror. Precious symbol of divination, the mirror contains in itself the visible and the invisible, the known and the stranger.
Water is the cradle of the existence; man leaves towards his discovery, searches his past to plan his future. He finds mysterious moments of dream, inspiration and relaxation. The image of the mirror is also an invitation to respect this resource, a priceless element for humanity."

The artist discusses the mirror as the key element in his piece. A possibility of world representation, the object is used in his native Mali as a way to predict the future and reveal what happened in the past.
