Escenarios II video still

Video installation detail

Picture taken during the production of the piece

“Where does the personal memory begin and where does the historic one begin? Is there a space of intersection where the limits of both cancel each other? Are there images that allude the two memories equitably?

Escenarios II is part of a three-channel video installation, which shapes staged situations that indirectly allude to the recent history of Lima, Peru. In an endless 360° panoramic, the series examines a possible representation of the city and its social and affective contours. Almost all items and elements — including sound — are placed there on purpose to compose a symphony of associations. Each scene is fraught with personal and historical meaning and, set amid the two, a space takes form in which both senses and both narratives intermingle.

Everything is ruined and desolated; the only remains are the traces of something past. Time is a vacuum. The images are suspended in an endless movement as if they were stubbornly refusing to cease to exist.”
